Overview

PrepBox set out to create one of the most comprehensive math learning ecosystems for K–12 students. The vision was clear: deliver high-quality curriculum materials that not only aligned with local and international standards but also provided students with the confidence to learn independently.

The result was a library of 100,000+ lectures and 1.2 million problems, each supported with hints, worked solutions, and concise lecture videos. My role as a Product Designer was to ensure this vast content library translated into a coherent, accessible, and engaging learning experience for students and teachers alike.

My Role & Approach

I approached this challenge on three levels:

Structuring Complexity (Information Architecture)
With millions of assets in play, the first challenge was discoverability. I worked on structuring the curriculum into intuitive pathways so students could progress logically, while teachers could find exactly what they needed for classroom support.
Grounding in Real Needs (Research & Testing)
I engaged with teachers, parents, and students to understand how they currently navigated math content and where they struggled. Usability testing revealed gaps in clarity, prompting refinements to both the workbook layout and the digital experience.
Designing for Engagement (Service & Visual Design)
Beyond organizing content, I focused on how it felt to use it. I designed workbook layouts around “learning moments” — short, impactful interactions supported by concise videos. For the iPad app, I redesigned curriculum visuals to fit seamlessly with the whiteboard tool, ensuring problems felt natural to solve in a digital-first environment.

Key Design Contributions

Singapore Math Integration: Translated immersive, story-driven math problems into interactive experiences. I facilitated workshops with Ontario teachers, refining content so it felt both engaging and locally relevant.
Continuous Development Cycle: Designed systems and templates that allowed new workbooks to be produced weekly without compromising quality or consistency.
Video as a Learning Companion: Proposed and validated a model where every problem and concept had a corresponding video solution. This gave students multiple entry points to learning — reading, solving, or watching.

Outcomes & Impact

65% increase in company revenue attributed to the stronger curriculum offering.
Improved usability for both students and teachers through streamlined navigation and clearer workbook design.
Scalable design system that allowed continuous weekly workbook production and smooth integration into the PrepBox app.

Reflection

This project underscored the importance of balancing scale and usability. Designing a million-problem library isn’t just about volume; it’s about making each interaction meaningful and accessible. The lessons I took forward: always validate with real users early, and always design systems that empower continuous content growth without sacrificing experience quality.
